Things Angels Desire to Look Into

November 5, 2022 Sermon Seeds from Pastor A Marttinen

1 Peter 1: 10-12 Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.

  1. Angels were interested in the Cradle in the hay. Angels were present when Jesus was a baby. The birth of Christ's birth did not make a big impact to the people of Bethlehem, but angels were present.
  2. Angels were present during the conflict between Christ and Satan in the wilderness. Angels knew about sin, it had come from their kind. Christ was tempted by Satan. Jesus held firm to truth.  Matthew 4:11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
  3. Angels were present when Christ needed comfort. Mark 14: 32,33 They went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray. "He took Peter, James and John along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,” he said to them. “Stay here and keep watch.” In His humanity Christ had needs. His friends fell asleep. Angels came and ministered to Him.
  4. Angels were present in the crypt in the Garden. Jesus' friends and disciples did not see His resurrection. Two angels remained in the crypt. One at the head, the other at the foot. The is like the mercy seat of the ark of the covenant. His friends were distressed over His death and did not understand His teachings about His mission.
  5. Angels were concealed in the crowd. Jesus gives a profound sermon then heads into Jerusalem and then to the Mount of Olives, and He ascends to heaven. Jesus' friends are joined by two angels who bring comfort. "He will be back."

Angels cared about and for Christ. Do angels care for us?
